Walt’s letters have all been transcribed and are linked below by year. Ruth’s letters to Walt were only saved for part of 1942 and returned to her. Links to those letters will also be on the 1942 page.

1943—Although there are no letters from 1943, there are two items that fill in some of Walt’s activities in 1943 and into 1944 before the letters begin again:
- Walt wrote a small diary of sorts in a spiral notebook that goes up to March 1943. I transcribed the entries in this post: “Dear Diary—this is important.“
- Pilot Log 1943-44—This log is a record of Walt’s pilot training up to his first arriving overseas and performing a few missions.
- Pilot Log 1944-45—This booklet is a continuation of Walt’s original log, although it is just a small notebook and not a book designed specifically as a pilot log. Mostly it contains dates, locations and flight hours.
