I do have the long letter from Walt’s friend that he includes with this letter to Ruth. I will probably transcribe it later in an appendix or as an attachment to this page.
A transcript follows the letter images.

I Love You,
Ded. 10, 1942.
Hello Sweetheart, how is my Honey today—O.K? O. K.
I don’t have much to talk about tonight. Seems as tho nothing ever happens to write about. I hate to dwell on the same subject all the time when there is no devellopement in the case. Because I’ve said about all I can say. I Love You—I can always say that.
I heard today we were supposed to enter preflight Mon.—I sure hope something happens soon.
Well everybody is in town but 3 or 4 guys. The irony of it—I have $60.00 in my pocket book a guy gave me to keep for him and I have $.04 of my own—funny unh? Yeah.
[unnumbered page 2]
I am sending this crazy letter from Bert Hawkins along—He tickles the devil out of me. He sure gives me a razzing doesn’t he? Ha. I give him one just as bad or worse.
Well Honey
for tonight—Goodnight Sweetheart
I Love You very, very much
