These are the first of the postcards written en route from Columbus, Ohio to Fort Riley, Kansas.
The picture postcard is of Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. I had never heard of it, but it is apparently a 4-year private university. I don’t think it has any significance, except, as stated in the previous letter, to serve as a sort of marker or diary of his journey to look at later in life.
A transcript follows the letter images.
Sorry I couldn’t call you.
We are leaving this morning at 8:00—Didn’t even know it till 7:00. I will write you later—You can call Ruth and tell her. So long—I’ll see you.
I love you,
H’lo Ruth:—Flash:—Am leaving for Fort Riley, Kan. sometime today. Two cards in one day—Ha. I write, and see you later.
