These are the cards Walt mentioned in the previous letter that contain the same information about applying for a furlough. I see I scanned two of the cards in the direction of the text, but didn’t turn around the top two when I scanned the photo sides of the ones from the San Jose Mission. Here they are:

Hello Sweetheart.

I applied for a furlough—C.O. said he’d try but didn’t think I could get it. If I don’t were sunk—I’m hoping I get it But doubt it.

Text on second postcard:

I haven’t seen any of these places—but they look nice, do they not? If I get a furlough and you can come we will look at the. I doubt if we get the chance tho. If not I‘m won’t be able to express how sorry I’ll be.
