Walt is moving to a new place, so he writes while he can. He also has his own Mustang now, one that belonged to another pilot with a wife named Ruth, so the plane is already named—Ruth-less.
A transcript follows the letter images.
Let’s have a little dinner—Fifteen minutes and we eat so I probably won’t get much written until afterwards
What are you doing this day after—Working so soon or just loafing. Loafing is what I’m doing—we had a mission early this morning—the last one we will have at this particular places as we are moving up soon—More fun I hope.
It is raining also—so loafing is appropriate.

I have a Mustang of my own now—It is a sweet little baby too—The Cap’t that had it before was grounded to go home so I got it—His wife’s name
was is Ruth also and he named the ship “Ruthless” “RUTH-LESS”—He is lucky enough to be going home so I have a notion to let the name stick—Ha—I would like to have an original one but haven’t tho’t of one yet.
Big things are in the making here again and we are going to be a part of it.—Good Deal.

If you ever read of P-51’s doing anything over here you’ll know it is us.
We had a nice dinner yesterday—Turkey—Cran. sauce, dressing, peach pie etc.—Today we start on rations again—I’m getting tired of the food now—
If you will—Send a box once a week containing—a couple cans of vegetable beef soup—A pkg. of tea now and then—Glasses of cheeze and etc.—It takes a couple months to get them but I certainly will appreciate them—If you can find a can of nuts we like them also.
[unnumbered page 4]
This food is getting hard to take—Ha. Canned stuff is the only kind that gets here in good shape.
Since J. J.—Garner and Braun have gone home
we an Frank and I have been intercepting their packages—Ha—Brauns people send him a lot of canned food and do we like it.—Don’t ever send Vienna Sausages tho—Gaugh!
Well—I’m glad Christmas has come and gone—I don’t have to think about that anymore.

Here Again, Dear One.—
Just a short line or so—
I’m interrupting a packing job now to write this.
In the next two or three days I’m going to be busy flying and during this time we are moving.—So possibly I won’t be able to write for a few days—I think we are going to have some fun in the near future—If you were to ask Mom what “having fun” meant
she’ld she would tell you some devilment—Ha. I hope to get in a little.
[unnumbered page 6]
I wish you would write to Mom so she won’t get worried in case she doesn’t get any mail.
I haven’t been too faithful about writing lately—but I have been doing a lot of flying also—Pretty rough flying at that—
You be good now—and I’ll write as soon as we get settled—
I Love You Sweetheart
