Walt has been preparing for the rainy season by building a tent floor three feet off the ground. But he still can’t think of anything to write about.

A transcript follows the letter images.

Hello Honey

How are you? Hope your feeling fine and dandy—I suppose you are still looking behind you everytime walk thru a dark room—I dare say I’d be if I once found a strange man in the house—Holy Smoke! I’ll bet that furnished plenty of conversation for the rest of the evening.

I’ve been rather slow about writing lately Honey—Just can’t seem to get around to it. I’ll get another streak one of these days and smother you with letters—Wish I could go like a streak and smother you with kisses—(I just reread that and it strikes me kind of funny—

We have been living in quite a mess lately tho. Our tent has been down while they put a floor in it—off the ground about three feet—The rainy season is supposed to start next month and we are trying to prepare a little for it. I guess it rains like hell for about four months, everything is under water—You’ll probably get more letters then. Should get more now as we moved back in our tent today.

How is the new edition to the family doing by this time—O.K. I hope and Ruby also—So your a

privileged character now are you—Holding the baby, bathing it and whatnot—Got quite an initiation somewhere in Texas along that line didn’t you—Oh happy days—Rough then but not so bad when you look at them now.

I wish I could think of something interesting to write to you about—Nothing interesting around here, Same old stuff.

I just thought of something new—Know what?

I Love You—I’ll bet that is a surprise—I’ve tried everyway in the books to tell you how much I love you—All to no avail, Guess I’ll have to wait ’til I get home and show

show you—Wish I could say when. But I can’t. At any rate Honey—We know we’re by the halfway mark by a long way.

For now

Take it easy

Good Night Sweetheart

I Love You
